Hanley Town’s footballing heritage can be traced back to 1894 but it has literally been kept in the dark after being unable to secure planning permission for floodlights at its Abbey Lane ground. pt provided a helping hand to the Stoke-on-Trent team, allowing them to overcome a range of issues that previously prevented planning permission. Malcolm Thomas pt’s resident expert provided the skill and tenacity that is usually reserved for Hanley’s footballing stars, to win over local residents and shine a much needed light on the Abbey Road ground. Wendy Jones, treasurer of Hanley FC, said: "We have waited six years for floodlights, after numerous failures we decided we needed new blood, we needed a striker, and Malcolm, four months on has scored the winning goal." Since being granted planning permission the focus for Hanley FC has now been able to go on to compete in the North West Counties leagues. |
