Phil Leach Goes Back to His Roots

Dr Philip Leach is leaving Property Tectonics (pt) to return to his roots in the academic world as a lecturer in Structural Engineering at Salford University. Phil has worked for Property Tectonics for 20 years taking technical responsibility for structural engineering across the company. For many years he has headed up the asset services side of the business providing building appraisal, whole life costing and strategic property planning advice, particularly in the social housing sector. Phil will take up his new appointment in June.

Dr Leach is a chartered engineer and a graduate of Imperial College London and has a PhD from Salford University for his research work in structural engineering. He is looking forward to getting back into research and teaching but will continue his association with pt as a consultant mainly providing structural engineering support across the company. Phil was made a partner in 1990 and then a Director in 2000 when the company incorporated and has been a key player in the company’s development. Founder and Managing Director Professor Trevor Mole said "Phil Leach has been such a key player in Property Tectonics’ development and his contribution has been immense; he will be a great asset to the University and his students will benefit considerably from his vast experience in business."

Phil’s return to the University will strengthen the very strong links Property Tectonics has with Salford University which goes back to 1987 when pt began. Trevor Mole who is also Visiting Professor in one of the UK’s top School’s of the Built Environment at Salford went on to say "whilst Phil is extremely bright and can provide high level expertise and knowledge, he is also a highly practical engineer and I am delighted he will continue his association with the business as a Consultant and help to reinforce our special relationship with Salford University".

Phil’s wife Wendy has been Phil’s business unit administrator for many years. She has worked for pt longer than Phil having clocked up 21 years service and she too will leave the company at the end of April. "Wendy has been a fantastic employee and will again take some replacing" said Trevor Mole, but she too is looking forward to a change in lifestyle. Phil and Wendy’s son Matthew will continue in the business as an IT professional so all in all the Leach family will still have some important connections with Property Tectonics going forward.
