building control services for Urmston Town Centre Transformation

Urmston Town Centre Transformation

Ask Developments are re-developing the North Manchester town of Urmston which may not be famous but it has been home to several sportsmen and personalities such as Matthew Kelly, Ian McShane and Sammy McIIlroy. Its proximity to Manchester and Trafford Park made it a thriving town with a strong identity, outdoor market and local shops. The £40 million transformation of Urmston is being overseen by pt Building Standards which is providing full Statutory Building Control Services. The re-development is bringing new life to the area which will generate a thriving retail centre and town centre living whilst bringing new jobs to the community.

The former council offices and adjacent sixties retail units have been demolished making way for a new mixed-use scheme consisting of 144 Residential Apartments; 28 Retail Units and a Supermarket; a Conservative Club & Flat; a new Public Library and new Shopping Centre Car Parks.

Managing Director of pt Building Standards, David Hodgson, commented "the company is delighted to be involved in this important scheme which will bring a new sense of identity to a thriving Manchester suburb. There have been many challenges along the way and it has been important to work closely, as a team member, with Ask’s innovative design team to produce an impressive scheme which will deliver high building standards.
