Property Tectonics takes the High Road to Glasgow

One of the biggest housing providers in the UK, Glasgow Housing Association (GHA), has appointed Property Tectonics to undertake a stock condition survey of thousands of its housing blocks and tenements throughout the city in just over two months.

Glasgow Housing Association took ownership of 82,000 properties from the City Council in 2003. The City Council was Europe’s largest social housing landlord at the time and the properties are now managed on behalf of the GHA by 60 separate local housing organisations.

The survey will primarily assess properties which have not been improved and will pay particular attention to the opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of the building fabric.

Property Tectonics is a master at this type of work having gained enormous experience over the past twenty one years developing appropriate methodologies, processes and IT tools to ensure that data is not only collected accurately but that housing managers can use and analyse the data effectively using pt’s Lifespan software or their own systems.

The project is being delivered in partnership with Scottish surveyor Graham & Sibbald (G&S) which has offices throughout Scotland. G&S will be making its offices available to pt staff, providing a welcome base for the joint team facing the Scottish winter. G&S and pt have worked together in the past and G&S Partner, Norman Fisher said "the combined strengths of the two companies offers a unique opportunity for customers to get the best advice and support and achieve excellent value for money".

Property Tectonics’ Associate Director, Malcolm Thomas said "we are delighted to be working with Glasgow Housing Association as it delivers its huge challenge of providing quality housing services to the local community."
