Barnsley Council In Asset Management Surveys

Barnsley Council have recruited Property Tectonics to conduct a major survey of its property portfolio.

The council has hired the Manchester-based consultancy to assess the condition, safety, accessibility and plan layout of its portfolio which includes the boroughs schools and community centres.

The survey, which will take up to two years to complete, will allow the council to accurately forecast future costs for maintenance and repairs.

Property Tectonics was behind some of the country’s most extensive building surveys including a recent project to assess Oxford University’s estate.

Barnsley Council is the most recent addition to Property Tectonics’ roster of local authority clients that already includes Birmingham and Leeds City Councils, Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council and Islington Council among others.

Property Tectonics’ Director, Dr Phil Leach, said: "For large local authorities like Barnsley, major surveys and appropriate planning save a great deal of public money in the long-term upkeep of building stock."
