ptBS’s service to the new Darwen Academy

pt Building Standards are providing the Building Control service on the new £30 million Darwen Academy. The new school that is to be developed will, in addition to providing a necessary replacement for Darwen Moorland High School, also provide some much-needed new facilities for the community.

An early challenge was to ensure that the fire safety strategy was compliant with the Building Regulations. Numerous meetings were held with the design team and Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service.

Work has now started on site, so pt Building Standards have deployed experienced Building Control Surveyors to undertake site inspections at a regular frequency and intensity to ensure that work on complies with the Building Regulations.
