Government approval of Lifespan RdSAP 9.94 software has been received following detailed testing by the Building Research Establishment. The new software provides Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and SAP ratings for residential buildings throughout the UK.
The new RdSAP version 9.94 will be launched officially by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on the 22nd September 2019 for immediate use.
The key changes in RdSAP 9.94 includes the following:
Three Appendix Q Calculation Tools which are for:-
– Solar Air Preheat Positive Input Ventilation Systems tool.
– Solar Assisted Heat Pumps tool
– Dynamic Insulation tool
U-Value calculation using a third party U-Value calculator to be used for the calculation of U-Values for Dynamic Insulation once the R-Value has been calculated within the Dynamic Insulation tool.
A new ‘Special Features’. This is to be used in conjunction with the 3 Appendix Q Calculation Tools.
A new ‘Previous EPC’ group of questions to accommodate new data requested by MHCLG.
A new ‘Photographs’ page and Photographs Reports.
A new checkbox has been added to the ‘EPC Addenda’ page. This is titled ‘Dwelling has a special energy saving feature’ and should only be checked if any Special Features have been recorded.

In preparation for the release we would strongly suggest that all EPCs currently awaiting lodgement are lodged prior to the end of play on Friday 20th September to avoid encountering any issues that may occur with 3rd party dependencies such as the Central Government Register. Lifespan RdSAP v9.94 will be made available on Sunday 22nd September. In order to make those changes, the register and lodgement facility will not be available from 11.30am on Sunday until 18.30pm, However, as there are many dependencies that implementation is reliant on we would suggest delaying any work on the system until Monday.
Please note there is No conversion tool for surveys in 9.93 to 9.94. 9.93 surveys will not be accepted in the register after the RdSAP 9.94 go live date.
Lifespan RdSAP is the preferred choice for assessors accredited with the Sterling Accreditation and is fully integrated into Lifespan’s leading asset management housing software and other Lifespan software products such as Carbon in Homes.
